The text suggested to prepare for the exam is: ``An Introduction
to Language'' (8th Edition or later) (2008) Rodman, Hyams,
Fromkin. The following is a list of chapters that
will NOT be part of the exam (though students who
have plans to work with language are highly advised to read them).
- Language acquisition
- Language processing: humans and computers.
- Language in society
- Language change: The syllables of Time
These are all parts of "Part 3" and "Part 4" in the 8th
edition. Later editions avoided dividing the book in parts; the
champter names might also have changed slightly.
